What to say
“Make your whole body as tight as is comfortable for five counts. Then melt into your chair like an ice cube. We will do three rounds.”

Keep it comfortable and useful.
Make room for everyone
- Students may squeeze only one comfortable body part or simply press palms together.
- Use 'gently tight' and stop any movement that hurts.
- No one has to close their eyes.
Watch out for
- Use before a quiet transition, not as a substitute for needed recess or movement time.
- Do not attach a lesson, reflection, or public share-out afterward.
- Announce the length, honor it, and move directly into the next task.
