A two-minute partner reset built on observation, deliberate motion, and a final shared-leadership challenge.

Before you begin

Materials

Preparation

  • Set a visible timer
  • Choose the seated or low-visibility option you will offer

What to say

Face a partner with comfortable space between you. One person moves slowly and the other mirrors. No touching and no trying to trick each other.

How to run it

    Partner A leads slow, comfortable movements for forty-five seconds.

  2. 2

    Switch and let Partner B lead for forty-five seconds.

  3. 3

    For the final thirty seconds, move together with nobody officially leading.

  4. 4

    Freeze when time ends and return to your spot.

Small group

Run it exactly as written and stop when the timer ends.

Demonstrate once, start everyone together, and use one unmistakable stop signal.

Pair students in breakout rooms or have the whole class mirror the teacher before attempting shared leadership.

  • Partners may mirror hands, facial expressions, or one finger while seated.
  • Offer solo mirroring with the teacher or a projected pattern.
  • Avoid required eye contact; watching hands is enough.

Watch out for

  • Keep movements slow, safe, and non-contact; do not reward tricking a partner.
  • Do not attach a lesson, reflection, or public share-out afterward.
  • Announce the length, honor it, and move directly into the next task.
