Keep it comfortable and useful.
Make room for everyone
- Keep the activity seated by default.
- Offer prompts in writing and read them aloud.
- Allow participants to write or pass instead of speaking.
Watch out for
- Avoid prompts that ask for personal hardship or disclosure.
- Do not require partners to summarize each other to the full group.
For the group
Here’s what to do.
- 1
Display or read three prompt options.
- 2
Ask each person to choose the prompt they would most like to answer.
- 3
Pair participants with someone nearby or assign breakout pairs.
- 4
Give each person two minutes to answer while their partner listens and asks one follow-up question.
For the group
Keep going.
- 5
Switch roles, then invite everyone to privately note one idea worth keeping.
