Before you begin
- Arrange enough chairs around the room without placing them in rows
- Choose three to five prompts and queue short music clips
- Leave clear pathways for movement

“While the music plays, move around the room in whatever way is comfortable. When it stops, take the nearest chair and pair with the person closest to you. Each round has a new question, and either person may pass.”

Keep it comfortable and useful.
Make room for everyone
- Offer a stationary home-base chair and bring each new partner to that person.
- Make dancing explicitly unnecessary; rolling, walking, or remaining seated all count.
- Display every prompt and read it aloud.
- Keep pathways clear and avoid elimination or competition for chairs.
Watch out for
- This is not musical chairs: everyone always has a place and nobody is eliminated.
- Keep the volume comfortable and provide a non-movement option from the start.
- Do not let participants repeatedly seek out only close colleagues.

For the group
Here’s what to do.

Explain the movement, seating, pairing, and pass options before starting the music.

Play 20 to 40 seconds of music while participants move through the available space.

Stop the music and display or read the first prompt.

Give pairs two minutes to talk, with roughly equal time for each person.
